Albums Of The Year-No 10-The Raconteurs

Like the album's arrival, I was pleasantly surprised after listening to this album as I hadn't expected too much of it. Despite Jack White's musical brilliance and many professional journalists disagreeing with me I feel it is Brendan Benson who provides the cutting edge to this album. The standout track for me was Many Shades Of Black which comes courtesy of Brendan's vocal talents. However almost every song on this album whether sung by Benson or White oozes class Combining a mixture of high paced riffs, old country blues amd old fashion rock n' roll Consolers Of The Lonley is a modern day lesson for any other band thinking of attempting those genres. Here is the video for the lead single Salute Your Solution and links to the bands website and where you can purchase the album.

Oasis Dig Out Your Soul

Oasis's new album is without a doubt one of the best I have heard this year. The boys are very much back to their best and it is probably their best since the amazing (What's the Story) Morning Glory. The first seven songs in particular stand out as six were written by Noel but Liam's "I'm Outta Time" is his best ever and is their fantastic new single. The album certainly weakens after Noel passes song writing duties onto the rest of the band although the songs are still very impressive. I recently saw the band live and it was without a doubt the best live performance I have ever witnessed. Oasis have written so many classic tunes and judging from their new album will continue to do so for many years to come.
Here is the rather atmospheric video for their new single "I'm Outta Time" along with links to their official site and where you can purchase the album. I very much recommend you do.

Im Back

Yes it has been a long time but I'm back and hopefully i'll be bothered to keep this up this time. There isnt really any changes to the site but if you're going to T In The Park then i'll try and keep you updated with the latest announcements and I hope to do this for all the major festivals as well. Well apart from that enjoy listening!

The Most Hyped Band In the World Right Now?

There seems to be three words on the mouths of music industry types across the world-The Black Kids. There is a huge amount of hype surrounding this band at the momment and understandibly so their debut EP-Wizards Of Ahhhs is one of the freshest sounds of 2008. They are touring the UK in June and have already been announced for a few festivals in the summer, the most noticeable being T in The Park, and I'm sure their name will be popping up on many more festival line-ups across the summer. Their debut single I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You is available on major download services now( its also available from their official page link at the bottom) and on CD on Monday the 7th of April( so tomorrow) and here is the video to what is a brilliant tune. If you don't like it at first then don't worry because it's a definite grower so give it a listen and decide for yourself whether their just hype or do they have the talent to back it up?

R.E.M-Accelerate

I know I haven't written anything in a while but truth be told I haven't been so excited about an album in so long. I was quite disappointed with the T in the Park Headliners this year but after listening to this and then the back catalogue I can't wait until Sunday the 13th July. Accelerate is an amazing album full of great riffs , catchy choruses and is R.E.M's best work in years. The album gets off at lightening pace with great rock tunes in the form of "Living Well Is The Best Revenge" and "Man-Sized Wreath". These two songs are definitely the stand out tunes on the album though to be honest there just a bit better than the others its all that good. It is the most rocky R.E.M have sounded in a long time and hopefully they'll carry this punkish momentum into their summer gigs and their next album. This is the best album I have heard this year and I thoroughly recommend it. The album is available everywhere now and can be bought here from play.com.Incase my glowing review hasn't convinced you listen yourself to the first single Supernatural Superserious and an acoustic performance of Living Well Is The Best Revenge from a van.
